Commonly Asked Questions (FAQ)

What are your Pick Up & Drop Off Procedures? Every camper must be signed in and out for the day. If someone other than the parent who is dropping the child off is picking up, they must be on the authorized pickup/drop off list prior to that day. Authorized pickups should be prepared to show ID.

What Should I Bring to Camp? Campers should always bring a bring a bottle of water to camp. A hat, jacket, & sunscreen are also recommended. Remember, it's a variety of activities so make sure to bring comfy clothes, closed-toed shoes (No Heely's or Sandals), and a pair of extra socks!

My child is on medication. How does the staff handle this? Please make sure your Administration of Medication Authorization Form is filled out. This can be found in the Welcome to Camp email you receive prior to your child’s first day of camp. Our Camp Director stores all medication and distributes it, if necessary.

What Should I NOT Bring to Camp? Campers should avoid bringing electronic devices, including iPads or handheld devices. If you feel more comfortable, we will allow cell phones but they must be kept in their bags unless discussed previously. Please avoid bringing toys. We will have everything they need in our building. Finally, no cash in their bags or lunch boxes. If you bring money, please have it in a Ziploc bag or put it in an envelope labeled with the camper’s name.

Are there any extra charges for field trips? As of right now, there are no extra charges for trips! We will be attending the Beach Ottumwa on some Fridays, but it will be included in the registration fee.

What is your Refund Policy? A $45 deposit is required at registration and will be applied to your full camp invoice. The deposit is refundable if the camp is canceled or we cannot accommodate all requests, but non-refundable if the camp runs as scheduled. If your child(ren) do not attend the registered camp dates, you will still be charged. All refund requests should be emailed to the Camp Director.

I have a payment plan; when is the camp balance due? Camp payment must be completed before the start of the week your child is attending. We will collect credit card information at registration and charge it accordingly.

Who are Your Counselors? At the Southeast Iowa JBS Sports Center, we are extremely proud of our camp structure and staff. Campers are not the only ones who love camp so much they keep coming back. The counselors are high school and/or college students with a strong background in sports and leadership with children. All camp councilors have gone through camp counselor training prior to working camp.

What Does My Child Need to Do for Theme Days? We have theme days each week! If campers wish, we encourage them to dress to the theme! On some Fridays, we may take a trip to the beach, so make sure to come with sunblock, towel, swimsuit, and a change of clothes! Be sure to check out the Weekly Themes above to make sure you are set for the week your child comes to camp!

Can my Child be Place with their Sibling or Friend? Absolutely! We will do our best to accept special requests. When you register for camp online, fill out the friend request section and we will do our best to accommodate your request! Make sure your request is in prior to the week of camp your child is registered for!
